About UsStudio NEiDA is an interdisciplinary
architecture,
design,
curatorial and
research practice based in Berlin and Lomé.
It was co-founded by the Togolese / French architect
Jeanne Autran-Edorh and the Austrian curator and writer
Fabiola Büchele. They worked for Pritzker Prize winning architecture firms, and acclaimed art and design institutions across Africa, Europe and Asia (Kéré Architecture, Jean Nouvel, Herzog & De Meuron, Kamel Lazaar Foundation) prior to establishing their joint practice.
Studio NEiDA makes space for multitudes. The work is committed to equitable production processes, contextual approaches, regenerative craftsmanship and inclusive exchanges.
ARCHITECTURE Studio NEiDA’s architecture is contextual, made of and for its place. As showcased in the recently completed
Guesthouse Adakpame in Lomé that features raw clay brick walls and custom-designed wooden door frames and
The Falcon cinema in the Accra region which draws inspiration from Asante architectural traditions.
DESIGN In designing objects and furniture Studio NEiDA looks toward craft as a vital expression of cultural and material heritage. Their designs elevate and adapt tried and tested methods of making to fit a contemporary design sensibility. The most recent examples are their winning design for the GAIIA trophy and their Chit Chat Chair.
CURATIONFor their exhibitions Studio NEiDA delivers projects that balance content and scenography. Examples include the first edition of
Les Rencontres Architecturales de Lomé (RAL #1), the accompanying Conservation / Transformation exhibition,
Considering Togo’s Architectural Heritage. In 2025 they were commissioned to curate
the first Togo pavilion at the Architecture Biennale in Venice and they are presenting and installation at the Triennale di Milano 2025.
RESEARCHUnderpinning Studio NEiDA’s work is their teaching and research practice, which includes work with educational institutions such as Berlin International University and
SOAS (University London), as well as putting forth their own utopian proposals such as an adaptive reuse concept for the Lomé’s Hotel de la Paix ruin and the
Afrotopia interview series.
Studio NEiDA works in English, French and German.
